The Jardins Palheiro / Palheiro Gardens provide welcome all visitors throughout the year . Considered the most beautiful gardens of wood, now part of haystack estate , which includes a hotel , a golf course , the village barn and greenhouse orchids Florialis .
The property became vested in the Earl oak in 1801 . Here he built a hunting resort , with 200 plane trees and exotic trees imported from around the world . In 1885 the property was acquired by john blandy burden . The family continued development of the gardens after 1900 and was mildred blandy who introduced many plants , including proteas from South Africa. In 1997 the house of Count was rebuilt and converted into a hotel known as the home of the old barn , a member of relais & chateau .
The gardens have a prime location above the fennel , since its construction at a height of 500 meters makes it a botanical garden and single exception of combinations of wet fog and constant fresh air , which enhance the growth of the species and become an oasis colors and flavors. Here you will find a magnificent collection of camellias started by Count , trees , garden roses , created by christina blandy and a multitude of other flowers and vines.
