Tourism in Madeira Island grow 8.5% in August
Early estimates of tourism in the Autonomous Region of Madeira ( RAM ) for the month of August 2013 indicate an increase of 8.5 % of overnight stays in hotels , compared with the same month.
Please note that the whole country saw a rise of 5.4 % . In absolute terms , were recorded in RAM about 739 thousand nights that month compared to 11.6 % of total overnight stays occurred in the country.
The positive development was mainly determined by the increase seen in hotels where there was an increase of 50 000 overnights ( +12.3 % ) .
