Pestana hotels in Madeira appointed for the World Travel Awards
The Pestana Group has 11 hotel units with 7 nominations for the 2014 World Travel Awards, the most reputed tourism awards worldwide. Specifically, the seven units that are on the ballot are: Pestana Palace Madeira, Pousada de Cascais, Pestana Carlton Madeira, Pestana Porto Santo, Pestana Convento do Carmo, Pestana Rio Atlantica and Pestana Caracas.

The Pestana Palace has received 5 awards World Travel Awards (WTA) and now is running for 3 new awards: “Europe’s Leading Luxury Business Hotel“, “Portugal’s Leading Business Hotel” and “Portugal’s Leading Hotel“.
Pestana Carlton Madeira and Pestana Porto Santo
Also the Pestana Carlton Madeira Pestana Porto Santo and enter this European race. The first in the category of “Leading Luxury Hotel” and the second as “Leading All Inclusive Resort“, which adds another appointment nationally in “Leading Resort“.
The Pestana Group was founded by José Pestana and his brother Manuel Pestana, when they acquired the Hotel Atlântico in 1965. A new five-star hotel was built on its site, and construction was completed in 1972. José Pestana later sold his share of the business and when Manuel Pestana retired, he left control of the company to his son, Dionísio Pestana.
